that was playful

the bird flicked with joy

and called out again

and their songs danced together

like seafaring friends

as the melody rolled over water and ground

with the gathering sounds

waves whistled softly

and sandy banks sighed

the sun spilled its gold

in a resonant sky

the harmonies sailed across faraway lands

always rippling back

to the place it began

to that one little shorebird
